Job Description and Duties

The Office Assistant (OA) in the Records Section is responsible for pulling, back-shifting and refilling folders, filing documents into folders, analyzing documents for completeness, and sorts and prep’s by document type. The OA must have the ability to learn to use various photocopiers and folding machines The OA prepares and reviews documents for imaging and input into the Justice Electronic Document Imaging (JEDI) system with conscientious attention to detail and maintains Bureau files.

Special Requirements

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • Writes and labels out cards, and pitches documents and/or folders into terminal by digit order.
  • Sorts, prepares, pulls, and refiles folders.
  • Prepares and reviews documents to image and input into JEDI.
  • Must be able to lift and move boxes weighing at least 20 pounds, carry an armload of folders.
  • Push loaded folder carts weighing up to 225 pounds to transport folders to various delivery and pickup points.
  • Ability to spend the majority of a regular shift (8 or 9 hours) bending, stooping, stretching, and climbing step stools or safety ladders while filing, refiling, and pulling folders in 8-foot-high mobile shelving units.
  • Maintains files by straightening/shifting folders. Backshift’s folder’s as necessary, and performs other duties as assigned.

The SOQ should explain in detail why the candidate believes his or her knowledge, skills, and abilities could apply towards this position. Your response should be typed in Arial 12 point font and no more than two pages in length. Resumes will not be considered a substitute for the SOQ.
